A Day in a Salon: Sehari Bersama Sahabat
Michelin Sallata x Kanzha Vinaa x Doctor Poop
In 2025, I collaborated with Indigenous climate activist Michelin Sallata and trans woman advocate & the head of Sanggar Swara Kanzha Vinaa, within a conversational space set in an imaginary salon. Curated by Rebecca Kezia, the salon concept symbolizes a space not only for physical care but also for dialogue concerning roots and identities that have been stolen or questioned.
I was entrusted to respond to and translate this conversation into temporary tattoo pieces, which were made available to the audience at the end of the session. During the discussion between Kanzha and Michelin, I applied one of the designs to Kanzha’s body as a symbolic gesture of "tattooing" her.
The work depicts the Moirai from Greek mythology, who symbolize the cycle of life. It portrays the three goddesses of fate and destiny: Clotho, who spins the thread of life; Lachesis, who measures the thread; and Atropos, who cuts it, determining the end of one's journey.
